Construction Appreciation Week runs October 5–11. At Hi-Way Paving, we're marking it by talking about the work, and the people doing it.

2026 has been a full year. Across our jobsites in Aiken, Charlotte and Nashville crews have been running multiple projects at once, standing up new crews, bringing new capabilities in-house, and hitting hard deadlines in conditions that can sometimes be unforgiving.

In Charlotte, crews have been deep in a multi-project runway program: complex, concurrent work that's pushed the team and the equipment. In Aiken, a lean crew stayed ahead of schedule from start to finish. In Nashville, a fourth paving crew started up this year, new skills came in-house for the first time, and the team navigated mid-project design changes without missing an opening date.

New work came in across all three regions, including Hi-Way's first highway project in several years which is a return to a discipline that's part of our roots.

But the story of 2026 isn't just what got built. It's who built it.

More than 130 team members hit their one-year milestone with Hi-Way this year. Team members expanded certifications, crossed into new disciplines, took on new equipment, and stepped into leadership roles on the crew. One of our own went back to the college he graduated from to recruit the next generation into the trade, because that's how this industry grows, and that's what Hi-Way people do.

We've been building America's infrastructure since 1969. The work looks different than it did then, but the pride our people take in doing it right hasn't changed. To every Hi-Way team member in the field and behind the scenes, this week is yours.

We Build America.

Each year, the construction industry recognizes Women in Construction Week, a time to celebrate the women who contribute their talent, leadership, and dedication to building the infrastructure our communities rely on every day.

Construction remains one of the largest industries in the United States, employing more than 11 million people nationwide. Yet women currently represent only about 11–12% of the construction workforce, and an even smaller percentage work in field or trade roles.

When you narrow that even further to specialized sectors like heavy civil and airfield paving, the number of women working in the industry becomes even more limited.

That is what makes the contributions of the women at Hi-Way Paving so meaningful.

Across our company, women play an important role in nearly every part of the business. From administration and accounting to human resources, project coordination, operations, and field support, they help keep projects organized, teams connected, and work moving forward.

Behind every successful project is a team working together to solve problems, communicate clearly, and support one another. The women of Hi-Way Paving are an important part of that effort, bringing skill, dedication, and perspective to the work we do every day.

Their impact goes beyond the projects we complete.

By choosing careers in construction, they are helping reshape what the industry looks like and inspiring more women to consider opportunities in the field.

The construction industry continues to evolve, and the contributions of women are an important part of that progress.

To The Women of Hi-Way Paving

THANK YOU.

This week, and every week, we thank you for the work you do and the example you set. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment are helping move our company and our industry forward.

National Engineers Week gives us a good excuse to pause and recognize the people who keep our projects moving: our engineers. In heavy civil concrete paving, the work is demanding, unpredictable, and often happens long before anyone else shows up on site. Yet our engineers handle it with a level of steadiness and competence that deserves real appreciation.

Engineering in our world isn’t theoretical — it’s practical, fast-paced, and full of variables. Weather shifts, schedules tighten, site conditions change, and concrete doesn’t wait for anyone. Our engineers deal with all of it while keeping quality, safety, and efficiency front and center.

There’s a quote that fits them well:

"Good engineering is invisible — until it isn’t.”

And that’s true. When things go right, most people never see the planning, troubleshooting, and decision-making behind the scenes. But we do.

What They Navigate Every Day

Our engineers manage challenges that don’t show up in glossy brochures:

  •  Adjusting plans on the fly when weather impacts mix design or curing
  • Coordinating crews, materials, equipment, and traffic in real time
  • Balancing tight timelines with high standards
  • Working through site conditions that never behave the same way twice
  • Keeping quality consistent across thousands of yards of concrete

Why We’re Proud of Them

We’re proud of our engineers because they bring a level of professionalism and problem-solving that sets the tone for our entire company. They’re thoughtful, practical, and committed to doing the job right — even when it’s inconvenient, even when it’s complicated, even when the clock is working against them.

Their work shapes every project we deliver, and their judgment is something we rely on daily.

To Our Engineers

THANK YOU.

Thank you for the long days, the tough calls, the attention to detail, and the pride you bring to your work. Thank you for being the people we trust to keep us moving forward.

Looking Ahead

As we mark National Engineers Week, we’re reminded that our success is built on the people who show up, solve problems, and keep raising the bar. We’re grateful for the team we have — and we’re excited for what we’ll build together next.
